Siena Italy Tourist Information and Travel Guide
The Siena Cathedral or "Duomo" is one of the most beautiful buildings in all of Italy. Built between 1136 and 1382, it features a spectacular facade that is comprised of ornate figures, designs and statues.
Visitors can enjoy works of art by Pisano, Donatello and Michelangelo in the cathedral or at the nearby Cathedral Museum (Museo dell Opera del Duomo).
Plans to build a nave off the side of the cathedral were abandoned when Siena Italy was struck by the plague in 1382. Visitors can however, enjoy a fabulous view from the unfinished nave structure.
